Corrective/Preventative Actions with Quality Management Systems
A corrective action or preventative action could be initiated from any number of places. It might be because of a customer complaint, or it might be due to regulatory violations that were spotted in your last quality audit. Whatever initiated the need for action, though, it is important that a company do everything it can to correct the problem or prevent it from growing out of control. If a good quality management system is in place, the company will be ready to handle any problems that come up.
Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs) must also be fully documented as they take place. This means that as you implement the appropriate actions, it must be recorded so that regulatory agencies can see what was done, and how quickly you reacted. Develop a standardized management system, and this will become second nature to everyone in the company.
