07/29 What Exactly Is a Heat Pump?
A heat pump pulls double duty in a house. It not only heats it during the winter months, but it cools it during the summer. This device works similar to that of a refrigerator or an air conditioner. A heat pump is a great investment if your average cold weather is around 45-50 degrees. This is the reason heat pumps have become so popular in new housing projects across the deep south and in Florida. When the temperature outside does dip lower, an auxiliary electric heater kicks on to supplement the heat pump’s output. This can get expensive if it has to happen often.
