Buzz May Be Violating Privacy Laws
The new buzz by Google violates user expectations, diminished user privacy, and contradicted Google’s privacy policy. That is according to The Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) – a high-profile public advocacy group which has put in a complaint about Buzz to US Federal Trade Commission. The problem is that unlike Facebook, Twitter, and other well known popular social networking sites, Buzz is an add-on for Gmail, designed to dovetail with Google’s existing online email service and tap users’ existing Gmail and Google Chat contacts. It is the addressing information which is being disclosed which is causing so much disquiet among some privacy groups.
