Do You Have To Maintain A Certification Once You Become A Certified Surgical Technologist?

Once you have gone through all of your schooling from the accredited school of your choice and have passed the exam in order to get your certification for becoming a certified surgical technologist, you must then keep that certification by retaking the exam after four years if you received the certification through the Laison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist or five years if they were certified through the  National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). This re-certification is needed in order for all surgical technologist to keep up on the growing technology that is happening around us every single day.
